ecoVeritas (formerly known as Propack Environmental) was founded by Richard Hughes in 1999 to assist companies with the calculation of their packaging waste obligations.
Our vision
Our vision is to help businesses respond creatively, cost-effectively and responsibly to the challenges raised by climate change and environmental sustainability, specifically in relation to recycling, packaging minimisation and carbon footprinting.
Our team

Richard Hughes (Managing Director) graduated from Cambridge University in 1983 and received his Environmental Masters from Imperial College in 1987. He has since worked full-time in the environmental sector at Cambridge University, BP, and ERM, and founded ecoVeritas in 1999. He has assisted over 50 companies with calculating their packaging waste obligations in many sectors including retail (supermarket, department stores, and toys), food and drink wholesale, gardening, and automotive. He has a broad understanding of CSR issues in business, in addition to being an expert in data modelling. Richard has verified global carbon emissions sixteen times for major international companies including BP, General Utilities, GSK, Severn Trent, Cultor, Danisco, and Kesko. He is passionate about environmental and social issues, was a founding director of the charity Refugee Resource, and served as a non-executive director of EIRIS, the leading not-for-profit ethical investment research organisation. Richard is also treasurer of Oxcar, which aims to use a car club to reduce Oxford's transport carbon footprint. |

Rupert Alison (Senior Consultant) brings many years' experience data modelling and management. Since gaining an M.A. in Physics at Oxford University, he gathered 11 years' experience with data collection and analysis within several science departments at Oxford University, before coming to ecoVeritas as a technical data analyst. Rupert leads our work with REPRA, and has overseen major improvements in calculation accuracy and quality control within the group. In his spare time, Rupert is a piano-accordionist who regularly plays gigs at local festivals, weddings, and other functions. |

Samuel Hampton (Consultant) is a first-class Geography graduate from Oxford University, and is passionate about sustainability, climate change, and how businesses can contribute to a lower carbon economy. Since joining us in 2008, Sam has taken on a variety of senior roles and now manages several large packaging calculations along with our CSR issues tracking work. Sam has worked on collaborative projects with the Oxford University Statistics Department, and has contributed countless innovative ideas to our more complex calculations. In his spare time, Sam enjoys painting, edits an online social science journal, and volunteers for Asylum Welcome, an Oxford charity. |

Mark Hughes (Software Developer) has developed Packman, the software we use both to calculate packaging obligations and perform our quality control. He is a professionally qualified database developer with sixteen years' experience of working with mission-critical financial applications in the City for companies such as Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi PLC (8 years), Atlantic Computer Group, Deloitte & Touche and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. |

Charles Henderson (Carbon Specialist and Lifecycle Analyst) brings over 10 years' experience of working with carbon issues for businesses, the public sector and individuals. He combines technical experience of carbon footprinting and life cycle assessment with a track record in stimulating communication programmes on the climate change agenda. He founded CarbonNeutral Newcastle, and has developed wide-reaching climate campaigns, maximising the marketing and PR opportunities from low-carbon initiatives by businesses. |

Lucy Mase-Robinson (Consultant) has a degree in Mathematics from Oxford University, where she also rowed for the university. Lucy joined ecoVeritas in November 2009 as a data analyst, and now manages some of our largest projects in Packaging, WEEE and Batteries. She also leads on our compliance work in the EU. In her free time, Lucy maintains a productive allotment, and keeps bees. |

Alice Aubrey-Fletcher (Marketing and Communications Manager) Alice joined us in 2011 from the Environment Agency where she managed their political communications. She spearheads ecoVeritas' marketing operation and supports the team drafting correspondence and proposals. Out of hours Alice is a mother and runs a volunteer service helping people rewrite their CVs. |

Charlie Byers (Data Analyst) is a first-class Music graduate from Oxford University with a wide range of interests, and is particularly passionate about exploring the ways in which socio-environmental issues inform the ethical choices we make in our work and personal life. Having joined ecoVeritas as a data analyst in 2011, Charlie has worked on a variety of projects, including our work with REPRA, and aims to develop his versatility within the team in the near future. In his spare time Charlie is most likely to be found in a dance rehearsal or on a bike. |
