Packaging data specialist, ecoveritas is taking further steps to help UK industry prepare for the imminent introduction of the UK Plastic Packaging Tax.
Josh Remi, the company’s Commercial Manager, is set to present at a virtual event to discuss the new tax (which comes into effect in April 2022) and its ramifications for British companies.
‘Countdown to UK Plastics Packaging Tax’ is being staged by global conference and events organiser, the Centre for Management Technology. It takes place on Friday February 4, 2022, from 09:00 (GMT) and will bring together thought leaders from a range of areas including compliance, certification, the law, recycling, and sustainable resource utilisation.
Josh will deliver ‘An Update on the EU Packaging Levy and how it will interact with the UK Plastic Packaging Tax’ at 11.05 (GMT). He will offer delegates an insight into the EU Packaging Levy, an overview of how it operates and provide examples of how countries are implementing systems to comply with this pan-European legislation. He will also outline the fees and costs associated with different plastics taxes.
“The introduction of the UK Plastic Packaging Tax represents a step change for the packaging industry and will affect around 20,000 businesses,” comments Josh. “It will see companies facing a tax of £200 for every ton of plastic packaging with less than 30% recycled plastic that they either produce in the UK or import into the country.
